Ding, dong, the wicked “starting strokes” at the Tour Championship is dead. The PGA Tour on Monday ditched the much-maligned format that created a staggered start to the FedEx Cup finale.

DUBLIN, Ohio – The PGA Tour is reverting to a traditional stroke-play format for the Tour Championship, with players who qualify for the season finale starting the tournament at even par instead of the starting-strokes model that had been used since 2019.

The often-criticized “starting strokes” format is being dropped for a regular stroke-play format which gives all 30 players an equal shot to win the FedEx Cup.
