This is a hidden gem of a park and campground. The campground has flush toilets and an outside washing sink with running water. There are 31 very nicely shaded camp sites, all paved roads, very clean…Full review by Edward L

Nice National Monument with Ancestral Pueblo cliff dwellings. You can only access an overlook at one of the cliff dwellings year round. Access to the overlook is via a short 1/2 mile out and back tra…Full review by Bill K

After spending five days at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, we planned our final vacation day here at Navajo National Monument. It's in an out-of-the-way area of the State of Arizona and I suspect…Full review by Diane D
Can you bring a 27 ft. Fifth wheel trailer into Park and be able to tour and turn around?

Yes, I remember seeing rigs as long as 32 feet there, but you will need to be a skilled driver to make some of the turns. Although I answered "yes," I'd recommend you call ahead to make sure (phone number on park service web site). If the official answer is No, look for some campgrounds close at hand, but overnight at the monument is really beautiful.
Hello, My family is planning to visit this area next week. One of us has a leg problem so he prefers to walk on flat areas, not with stairs or steps. If we stop by Navajo national monument, which spot is good for us? Does Sandal trail have steps or is it required to climb? Is Betatakin Overlook the one has the cliff dwelling we can look at?
A:

Is the Navajo National Monument open to visitors on September 20th & 21st, 2016? The NPS website implies that it is not, but then another section says that hiking on the "Three Mesa Top Trails behind the Visitor Center Always Open." We would like to do a hike with a ranger, but is that possible? Or, if not, is the Visitor Center open and is hiking permitted on those dates? Please advise. Thank you!

On the NPS website, in the information section where you find operating hours and directions, there should be another section with the address and a phone number. I would call and ask the staff. When I was there, there was a very helpful young lady who answered a few questions I had.
I have one day to hike and there is no way I can be at the National Monument before 3PM the day before. I am in good shape and can do about 9 miles or so a day in landscape with +/-900 feet altitude change but am known as a slow hiker. With that in mind, what are people's recomendations - Keet Seel or Betatakin? The Keet Seel hike sounds amazing, but I am worried about making it through the hike. . .

I would recommend Betatakin trail. We could not make it in November because it was close, so only we could do is to see these ruins from the top of the ram. If you plan to hike there, you should find the information about available Betatakin group tours and the time they run them, because the only the tour or hike you can do is one with a ranger.
