Visit for a huge day out! See Spitfires take to the skies from the airfield where they first flew, get up close to gigantic aircraft and walk in the footsteps of the people who served here. We recommend at least half a day for your visit. Advanced booking is advised. Inside every hangar and exhibition, you’ll discover iconic aircraft, see historic objects from our collections and uncover hundreds of personal stories of the many lives impacted by conflict. Refuel in one of our onsite cafes during your visit. The Armoury Café is open daily 10am-4pm, The American Museum Café from 11am-3.30pm. The Workshop Café reopens March 2025. Discover our gifting ranges inspired by IWM Duxford’s historic site and military aircraft in our museum shop.

Taxi is the quickest and easiest way, normally Except for one day a week buses dont stop at the museum except on Flying days. It may be easier and will be cheaper to travel to Whittlesford Parkway station rather than Cambridge and organise a taxi from there or possibly walk. That depends on what if anything else you plan to do in Cambridge/bags etc. If this is a flying day you are going for then there are shuttle buses from Cambridge station, plus the park and rides - all listed on the event day webpage

For non-Flying Days, no you don't need to. Prebooked tickets dont really hop the line unless they have changed the layout in the last 10days as the queues marked up for the past few months have been Members and All Others. Id expect a prebooked ticket line to possibly appear at some stage, as it gets people in. However they arent on limited numbers for General Admission days. For an event day, yes you need to get in advance - even the new hybrid event days which are free for members need members to prebook their tickets
