Going down to the canyon is an easy time, returning back up is far from it . At 7000 ft the air is thinner and the climb to the top is arduous. Allow 1.5 hrs to view the Canyon, well worth the visit.

I agree with the 2-3 hours response. If you can, do walk the whole way; the signage is excellent, it is so interesting, and it's very beautiful, too. It is also a terrific introduction to Native American life, since the Sinauguans were among the earliest. You can then compare these dwellings with those along the timeline. It is so interesting!
