The weather in Boulder is unpredictable. It could be sunny and dry, snow covered, muddy, or icy. It will depend on the weather in the days leading up to your hike. If it's dry for a few days, you're probably good. If it snows and melts, it could be muddy. I'd plan on having some traction like micro spikes, just in case there are slippery parts. I hiked it last winter on January 1st and it was covered in snow.
Q:
Is there still snow on the trail this time of year?
A:
No, there is no snow up on Sanitas right now. It's all melted. It is a little wet from the rain over the weekend but, other then that, it's in great condition. Wild flowers are out as well!
